Description
8" (20 cm.) man. 4"l. dog. 17" h. x 14"w. background. Polychromed terra cotta head depicting a smiling man with sculpted short hair, goatee and moustache, enamel eyes, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted green stockings, sculpted brown wrinkled leggings, black shoes, wearing original homespun costume, along with earthenware white dog. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, excellent characterization for such a small figure, posed along with (contemporary) foam-board architectural facade.
