Description
31" (79 cm.) h. x 38"w. x 24"d. The single story wooden edifice features an elaborate roof of shaved wood shingle with overhang, which can be removed for access to the interior, an elaborately fitted interior with six smaller rooms accessed from a single long hallway with access from the side wall and a large theatre room with stage. Each room is separated by sliding door with hand-painted panels, and there are further carved panels over each door frame. From a series of miniature mid-1900s houses commissioned by Huguette Clark from the Japanese artist, Saburo Kawakami, through the agency of the historic Asian art importer G.T. Marsh of San Francisco and Santa Barbara. The construction as well as native woods are authentic, including sliding doors which are designed to simply fit into with the floor and frame grooves in the exact manner of actual buildings. Excellent condition.
