Bisque socket head, brown glass paperweight inset eyes with very large irises, painted lashes, feathered arched brows, accented nostrils, pierced ears, closed mouth with delicate smile on the pale outlined lips, pierced ears, original blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 0 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1878, the first period or premiere bebe. Value Points: an outstanding doll, with most endearing expression, unusually fine quality of bisque and painting on this early tiny bebe, in fine unplayed with condition and wearing original ivory silk dress with Jumeau blue silk label on balayeuse ruffle, original matched undergarments, cap, socks, cream kidskin shoes with silk rosette signed "E. Jumeau Med. d'Or Paris 1".
