19" (48 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very full elongated cheeks, amber-brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accent dots at eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the very full lips that are enhanced with shading and outlining, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3 H. Comments: Aristide Halopeau, circa 1880, the successor to the legendary Barrois doll firm. A unique bebe model was commissioned by Halopeau, and created for him at the Frayon porcelain firm, with painted complexion and facial details by the noted Parisian artist, Barnard; only one model was ever offered by the firm and few examples were created. Value Points: gorgeous dreamy eyed bebe with very full sensuous lips enhanced by exquisite painting, original body and body finish, lovely costume includes antique coat with matching dress, undergarments, leather ankle boots, and very fine antique bonnet.
