4" (10 cm.) A stylized simplistic wooden carving of two women posed on either side of a butter churn, each with dowel-jointed waist and pin-jointed arms. When the string hidden below the platform is pulled, the women bend forward and back as though churning the butter. Excellent condition. American, mid-1800s, the toy is charming not only its well-conceived action, but also for its artful simple carving.
