16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with well-defined outline of lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointed at hips and knees, kid-over wooden upper arms, bisque lower arms with sculpted curled fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: L Depose 3 D. Comments: Louis Doleac & Cie, circa 1875. Value Points: very beautiful poupee with lovely bisque, distinctive facial expression, rare maker's signature, and wearing original ivory satin gown with extended train, undergarments, leather tasseled boots. The poupee owns an antique doll trunk with original paper lining and double trays, which is filled with an extensive trousseau comprising three fine antique gowns, additional day dresses or partial costumes, extensive undergarments, fringed shawls, coat, five additional bonnets, and early papeterie.
