Description
14" (36 cm.) Each is a one-piece sculpted figure representing a Chinese man or woman, with highly-defined facial features, posed arms, and anatomically-correct bodies; the woman with gentle expression, slight smile and with painted pate and real queue; the man with solemn expression and bald pate. Both are wearing their original silk kimonos, she with elaborate head-dress, and each with painted slippers. Condition: generally excellent, she with repairs on legs, one dome has one-piece reglue at the base. Comments: Chinese, early 1800s. Value Points: the outstanding pair are mounted on original gold leaf bases under glass dome.
