Description
8" (20 cm.) table. 4" dolls. Arranged upon a walnut pedestal table with tilt-top mechanism are three wooden Grodnertal dolls, each with one piece carved head and torso, painted black hair (two with sculpted tucked comb, and one with beautiful stippling of curls around her face), painted facial features, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted shoes; two of the dolls are wearing their original early costumes and are preserved inside early glass domes, and the third doll is posed seated in early miniature bone and quill rocking chair. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: wonderful trio of early wooden dolls in all-original well-preserved condition.
