Bisque socket head, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, richly-blushed eye shadow, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shy smiling expression, outlined lips, suggestion of tongue tip, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over Steiner pate, French composition fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sie E 3. Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1886. Value Points: the extreme rarity of the Series E model is enhanced further by the utter charm of this doll with wonderful complexion and painting, most expressive features, original body and body finish, and wearing early costume (may be original) of dropped-waist flowered cotton dress, undergarments, kidskin boots, woven bonnet and carrying woven double-hinged-lid market basket.
