17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted facial features, intaglio painted blue eyes, prominent black pupils, white eyedots, black and incised eyeliner, one stroke short brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, impressed cheek dimples, brunette human hair braided wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Germany 550 A 4 M DRGM. Comments: Marseille, circa 1910, the 550 model was made in variations including glass eyes and painted eye, wig or painted hair. Value Points: the rarest variation of the endearing character with shy smile has deep intaglio eyes and original wig, antique folklore costume, original body and body finish.
