Description
11" (28 cm.) Arranged on original wooden base with sandy-grout cover is a bisque-head boy with blue glass eyes, open mouth, row of teeth, brunette curly hair, carton body, bisque lower arms and legs with bare feet, posed alongside a large woven basket whose lid is covered with tiny shells. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D 8/0 (doll). Comments: for the French market, circa 1900. Value Points: in perfectly-preserved condition, the little boy wears original silk sailor costume, and holds a fishing net; the basket was designed to hold an assortment of candies, as presented by a prestige Parisian candy shop.
