13" (33 cm.) The wooden framed theatre with colorful lithographed paper cover and decoupage trim has curtain-edged stage upon which are posed three Grodnertal wooden dolls with painted and fabric costumes. Inside the base are wooden mechanical works and music box, and when the handle at the side is turned, merry music plays and the dolls dance about. Excellent condition, minor paper rubs on exterior. Germany, mid-1800s, probably for the French market. A rare musical mechanical toy of great charm.
