17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on bisque breast plate, unusual solid crown with cut pate at very back of head, rounded facial modeling, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, blue glass eyes, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, shaded lips, original (frail) blonde mohair wig, unique body construction with muslin midriff and upper arms and legs, and bisque shoulder plate, lower torso, and lower arms and lower legs with bisque bare feet, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, right baby finger tip chipped. Comments: Jules Steiner, one of his earliest bebes with distinctive body known variously as "Motschmann" type, or taufling or bisque limb baby, circa 1870. Value Points: very rare bebe especially with all original bisque parts, beautiful complexion and painting. Private collection Lorna Lieberman.
