Polychromed terra cotta man with bald pate, distinctively-sculpted stern expression enhanced by incised age lines, enamel eyes, furrowed brows, high cheek bones, shadowed painting of hair and beard stubble, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted black stockings, unusual sculpted black boots with wrinkled detail, wearing country peasant costume comprising short pants, shirt, homespun jacket with patch pockets. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, especially fine detail of facial lines lending distinctive expression, unusual boots.
