20" (51 cm.) Carved wooden shoulder head with rounded face and elongated throat, carved and painted hair with "curly" chip carving at the back and well-detailed shaded curls framing the face, finely painted complexion with outlined and painted eyes, brows, nose, blushed cheeks, defined ears, French kid poupee body with gusset jointing, stitched and separated fingers, wearing early blue chambray gown, apron, undergarments with cutwork and embroidery, leather boots. Condition: generally excellent, original finish is beautifully preserved albeit little nose touch-up. Comments: for the French market, circa 1840. Value Points: beautifully defined hair, well-preserved gleaming complexion, fine antique costume.
