Description
7" (18 cm.) Of lightwood with natural finish,the furniture is decorated with gilt paper and cutout floral decoupage which is generously applied to simulate hand-painted or inlay designs. The set includes a canopy day bed with gauze curtains decorated with gilt paper stars, fernery with unusual hinged mirror, two side chairs and two straight chairs, each with original floral-patterned cotton upholstery. Condition: furniture generally excellent, repair to head/torso on doll. Comments: the furniture was made in Germany,and shipped to France where it was upholstered,fitted and decorated by the Badeuille firm who specialized in these pieces,for the French market, circa 1875. Value Points: rare furnishings with original decorations; included is an all-bisque miniature doll with wonderful original costuming.
