28" (71 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with oval face and elongated throat, dark enamel inset eyes, delicately-painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, black painted pate, muslin stitch-jointed body, kid arms and hands. Condition: generally excellent, right thumb missing. Comments: French, circa 1840, attributed to Andreas Voit. Value Points: well-preserved early doll with original brunette wig and wearing original transfer pattern cotton gown, sous-sleeves, undergarments, leather slippers and bonnet.
