15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass painted eyes, black upper eyeliner, short feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with wide smile, row of sculpted and painted teeth between the accented lips, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish. Marks: 129. Comments: Adolf Wizlizensus, circa 1911, the firm advertised a series of art character children in that year, indicating that they were available with either painted or sleep eyes. The series appeared under their trade name "Gretchen", and this actual model was shown in their advertisement for that year. Value Points: extremely rare model whose beautiful expression includes deeply-impressed cheek and chin dimples enhanced by finest quality of bisque and painting, wonderful antique costume.
