17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head, brown sculpted hair with loosely formed braids at each side of her face that are captured in a tightly coiled braided chignon at the back, oval-shaped face and elongated throat, very pale untinted complexion, painted blue eyes in well-defined sockets, red eyeliner, brown feathered brows, aquiline nose, closed mouth with very full lips, early muslin body with porcelain lower limbs, painted black ankle boots. Condition: generally excellent, few typical rubs on hair. Marks: KPM (blue circle stamp inside shoulder plate). Comments: KPM Berlin, circa 1850. Value Points: rare brown hair, superb sculpting, artistic painting especially of eyes and lips, and very fine antique dotted Swiss muslin gown with elaborate back train. The muslin body has old hand-lettered notation "Lucretia Hodge, circa 1850". Ex-collection Margaret Hartshorn.
