Description
10" (25 cm.) Standing upon a three-wheeled tinplate base is a bisque-head girl with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, closed mouth, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, metal hands, original red silk dress with matching bonnet, red silk shoes, holding a small baton; a shuttlecock is attached by a long wire to her back arm. When wound, she moves forward, circles, and continues, while she attempts to strike at the shuttlecock. Condition: generally excellent, baton is not original. Comments: Vichy, Paris, circa 1875. Value Points: the early toy with delightful action is enhanced by original silk costume.
