18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, plump lower cheeks and chin, almond-shaped cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig in very elaborate original coiffure, kid poupee body with gusset jointing at elbows, hips and knees, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (partly legible green torso stamp with name Coutin and Paris street address). Comments: circa 1867, the doll was presented at the luxury Parisian doll boutique of Madame Coutin. Value Points: wonderfully expressive portrait-like face with demi-smile, superb original coiffure, very sturdy original body with boutique label, and fine original costume including rare blue velvet purse with ornate decorations, and wonderful leather shoes.
