The trio are of carved wood depicting three kneeling children with broadly-smiling expressions, having painted sidelocks and whisk topknot, with fabric remnant costumes which are tightly-adhered to the body forms by means of carved slits in the wood. Excellent condition. Mid-1800s. The trio is shown in Japanese Dolls, The Fascinating World of Ningyo by Alan Scott Pate, page 160.
