Description
13" (33 cm.) h. 13"l. Posed upon a tinplate three-wheel base is a bisque-head doll with brown glass inset eyes, painted features, closed mouth, outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde fleecy mohair wig over cork pate, with bisque shoulderplate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms and wearing original silk dress and bonnet, standing alongside a hide-covered cow with glass eyes and bellows-jointed neck. When wound, the toy glides forward on wheeled base, encouraged by the little doll. Condition: doll is excellent, toy is overall very good, with partial functioning. Comments: French, attributed to Vichy, circa 1880. Value Points: rare early toy enhanced by the presence of an unusually beautiful doll.
