12" (30 cm.) Carved wooden head, extended wings of elaborately sculpted hair whose actual design called for the hair to be wrapped around a wooden form, with red decorative combs, square cut of hair at forehead to indicate matron status, carved and tinted facial features, cloth body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope Mission, circa 1925. Value Points: rare coiffure and wonderful facial expression, wearing original silk patterned kimono with linen lining, blue cord edging, silk cord trousers, unusual carved wooden feet with painted shoe design and carved heels.
