Description
18" (46 cm.) (excluding feather). Honey-hued poured wax shoulderhead of slender-faced lady, her head tilted to the side, on firm armature shapely torso and legs posed in stylish manner, and with long slender wax arms and posed fingers, sculpted and painted heeled shoes and constructed with foot dowel that attaches to original wooden base. Condition: generally excellent, little ding on nose tip. Comments: French, circa 1915, created during the era of smaller wax fashionable lady dolls by Lafitte-Desirat; this example is larger and has more detail of costume construction and accessories; the style of costume is very similar to the fashions of Paul Poiret of Paris. Value Points: very rare mannequin model with extraordinary original costume comprising gold metallic harem style pants, painted green heels with sculpted buckles, metallic tunic with applique white sequins in floral shapes, rhinestone sash necklace and bracelet, long white mohair "flottante" curls under elaborately feathered cap which matches the silk brocade cape with applied silk tassels.
