19" (48 cm.) The wooden sedan chair with elaborate bombe shaping of the sides has glass windows and hinged door, and antique dark green bronze painted finish, gesso sculpted designs including scalloped emblems at the corners, and having oil-painted scenes in the genre of Fragonard on all sides; the silk-lined interior has silk upholstered bench. Generally excellent. French, mid-19th century, an especially fine example of the chaise-a-porteur with elaborate original finish.
