Description
13" and 15". Each is a cut, stuffed and stitched doll with lithographed face and hair depicting a young boy, one with printed sewn-on costume, and the other with original printed removable costume. Condition: very good. Comments: Ida Gutsell, her printed dolls were patented in 1893; of particular importance in her patent was the design of forward-facing feet for realism. Value Points: included is her rare model with center-parted hair and having removable jacket and trousers, and a brown-complexioned boy marketed as "Darkey", produced by Cocheco Manufacturing from Ida Gutsell designs.
