21" (53 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, sculpted orange hair in bobbed fashion with forelock curl, brown glass side-glancing googly sleep eyes, painted long curly lashes, one-stroke orange brows, closed mouth with watermelon slice-shaped smile, composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing, antique mariner costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 163 12. Comments: Hertel and Schwab for Strobel & Wilkin, circa 1912, the model was inspired by the Campbell Kid designs of Grace Drayton. Value Points: rare grand size of the model allowing for excellent definition of hair, dimpled lips and eye corners, very fine painting of features, wonderful antique costume.
