Description
20" (51 cm.) Firmly-stuffed black cotton sateen with slightly-defined shaped nose, painted facial features, closed mouth with suggestion of teeth, accented nostrils, stitched-on ears with applied tiny bead earrings, stiffened yarn hair, firmly-stuffed sateen body with stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: late 1800s, native Island doll in original costume and accessories, Value Points: beautifully made doll with oil-painted features, stitched-on silk turban, and wearing original multi-layered costume, jewelry and unusual velvet-patterned slippers.
