Description
16" (41 cm.) Standing upon a wooden platform with metal spoked wheels and decorative paper cover is a bisque-head jester with blue glass inset eyes, painted facial features, closed mouth, block torso, wooden lower arms and legs, painted boots, outstretched arms with a cardboard shaped cone in each hand. A bisque-head miniature doll is perched upon his head, with painted features, and spring body hidden under a cotton smock. When the toy is pulled along, the larger doll kicks his legs merrily, while the smaller doll bobs up and down from the spring action, as though trying to escape from cones in which he is hidden. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 2 (doll) Comments: Germany, for the French market, circa 1880. Value Points: the rare and amusing toy is all original.
