Description
9" (23 cm.) Each is constructed of carved wood with jointed legs and wood-segmented swivel neck, having carved beak, painted large eyes, painted yellow feathers under "people" costumes. Condition: very good, few very minor flakes. Marks: Quacky Doodles T.M. Reg. P.F. Volland & Co Pat. Dec.2, 1902, Apl 14,1903, Design Patd Sept 7, 1915 (labels on boxes). Comments: Schoenhut, for Volland, 1916, the wooden duck family was issued in conjunction with the publication of the 1916 Quacky Doodles and Danny Daddles Book, illustrated by Johnny Gruelle, which related in rhyme the nighttime activities of toys in a nursery. Value Points: the two rare toys have original vibrant finish, she with original cotton head scarf, both in their original colorful box and original book.
