Description
24" (61 cm.) overall length. 15"h. Arranged upon a metal frame with four metal spoked wheels is a team of four carved wooden horses in prancing poses, each with dappled painted coat, brown painted eyes, carved ears, leather saddle with applique trim. The two front horses are decorated with a wooden handled brass gong bell with dangling blue balls, and balanced on the two rear horses is a bisque head doll with blue glass eyes, closed mouth, wooden block torso, legs and hands, wearing jester costume with silver bells. When pulled along the horses bob up and down in a merry manner. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1885. Value Points: rare toy with luxury details of painting, and imaginative construction.
