13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with untinted white complexion decorated with painted clown features, thick brown and red eyeliner, long brown side-angled brows, brown glass inset eyes, closed mouth, pierced ears, bi-color clown wig, French composition body with jointing at shoulders and hips, antique clown costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J. Steiner Paris Fre A 6 (head) Le Petit Parisien (body). Comments: Jules Steiner, circa 1890. Value Points: wonderfully decorated details of clown features extending to painted ear decorations, upturned lip corners, original body and body finish.
