Description
22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with glazed and shaded lips, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, wearing antique blue flannel wool coat with capelet collar, mohair collar, cuffs and muff, lambswool cap, undergarments, socks, and leather shoes marked C.M. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: B 10 F. Comments: Bebe Francais, Emile Jumeau, circa 1892, the Bebe Francais model was introduced by Emile Jumeau after winning his infringement lawsuit against Danel & Cie and gaining the rights to this name; the model is completely different than the classic "tete" model and bears an uncanny resemblance to Jumeau's 225 art character bebe. Value Points: distinctive facial modeling with gleaming complexion, brilliant blue eyes, wonderful costume.
