15" (38 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with short boyish carved hair having forehead curly bangs and modified topknot,large ears,defined narrow eye sockets with painted outlined pale blue eyes,tinted brows,rounded nose,closed mouth with two upper and two lower beaded teeth,all-wooden spring-jointed body,antique sailor costume. Condition: very good,original finish with some fading of features,early faint touch-up on nose. Marks: Schoenhut (incised). Comments: Schoenhut,circa 1911,one of the earliest models of the rare character doll. Value Points: rare early model with wonderful mischievous laughing expression,with original Schoenhut shoes and socks.
