Description
24" (61 cm.) Standing upon a tapestry covered wooden base is a bisque head doll with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, brushstroked and feathered brows, lushly painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded outlined lips, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, right bisque lower arm. When wound, music plays and the doll turns her head side to side and nods, while her right hand, hidden inside a mohair muff, removes from the muff and extends toward her mouth as though blowing kisses; meanwhile her chest heaves up and down as though "breathing" or catching her breath. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 6 (head). Comments: Roullet et Decamps with bisque head by Emile Jumeau, circa 1890. Value Points: charming movements, especially the realistic breathing, are enhanced by the beautiful original aqua silk dress and matching bonnet, mohair muff.
