Carved wooden doll with swivel head, well-defined facial features and combmarked hair loosely waved from her face and captured in coiled chignon at the back of head, sculpted ears with earrings, small brown enamel inset eyes, closed mouth, strong nose, shapely torso, dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, sculpted wooden heeled shoes, with painted detail of stocking edge on legs, wearing original costume. Condition: structurally excellent, original painted finish with some rubs and wear. Comments: late 1800s, maker and country of origin uncertain. Value Points: rare doll with intriguing articulation, wonderfully sculpted hair. Included is an authentically-detailed spinning wheel.
