Description
5" (13 cm.) including cap. All wooden doll with classic plump gosho modeling, gofun finish on face, smiling expression, painted features, deeply set eyes, painted forelock. The gosho is costumed as a sambaso performer in the kimekomi manner comprising, silk brocade kimono and sleeveless jacket permanently applied to the carved body form (designed to appear as though richly-draped and multi-layered although actually only a single silk layer) and enhanced with painted detailing. He has a detachable paper-backed silk cap and holds a juzu bell-tree rattle. Generally excellent. Showa era, 1930s.
