Description
19" (48 cm.) x 14" box. The light-wooden box is covered with blue leatherette finish and gold lettering "Service Faience", trimmed with silver handles and accents, and hinges open to a well-fitted interior comprising a blue and white faience dinner service, with decorations of flower boxes and flowers. Included are 30 plates for various servings, eight soup bowls, two covered tureens, gravy boat, footed compote, large bowl, oval platter, round platter, four glass accessories, and silverware service for four, all still tied with blue bows onto original rose backing. Excellent throughout except gravy bowl reglued on base, chip on rim of blue decanter, and roughness of edges of glass salts. French, circa 1885, an extensive luxury service indicative of French banquets of the era.
