Description
11" (28 cm.) Bisque socket head has three different faces, of which two are hidden under a cardboard hood and the third revealed at the front; the alternate faces can be revealed by twisting the brass knob at the top of the head. One face depicts a sleeping child, one a blue glass-eyed crying child with molded tears, and the third a blue glass-eyed laughing child. With original twill-over-carton torso and upper limbs, composition lower limbs, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: C.B. Comments: Carl Bergner, circa 1890. Value Points: whimsical doll is well-preserved, has working "mama" crier, antique costume.
