Bisque socket head, very full cheeks, small blue painted eyes eyes with black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with smiling expression, accented lips, row of sculpted teeth, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 125 4. Comments: Adolf Wislizensus, circa 1910, the firm advertised a series of "charakterpuppen" that year, naming the series "Gretchen" and noting "all character series with painted as well as movable glass eyes"; the model was shown in their 1911 advertisements. Value Points: very rare character with wonderful laughing expression, very choice bisque and painting of complexion and features, antique schoolgirl costume.
