Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on bisque shoulder plate, blue glass paperweight eyes, closed mouth, painted facial features, blonde mohair wig, cork pate, kid gusset-jointed body, separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Jumeau, circa 1880, the lady is costumed as a fortune teller or "poupee a bonne aventure", having a skirt formed of hundreds of folded paper fortunes, in French, with humorous "fortunes". Value Points: fine original condition, wearing well-detailed original costume and accessories and posed on a very rare original maple wood pedestal and holds a red silk flag which reads (translated), "In the folds of my dress, O blessed mortals, you will find my true judgements". Ex-Collection Legoland Museum of Dolls.
