Description
20" (51 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque-head doll with brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted dark lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, and bisque forearms. When wound, she turns her head from side to side and daintily fans herself while two tunes play. Condition: generally excellent, left arm can be adjusted to lift floral bouquet. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4 (head) Coppelia [and] Vienna Moussaka (handwritten paper label on base). Comments: Leopold Lambert with original bisque head by Jumeau, original silk costume from the studio workshops of Eugenie Lambert, circa 1890. Value Points: beautiful original aqua silk costume with Alencon lace trim and silk ribbons, matching original very fancy bonnet, shoes and socks, and holding original silk fan and silk flowers.
