17" (43 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with modeled bosom and shoulder blades, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, rose blushed eye shadow, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the pale accented lips, pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, kid bebe body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, bisque lower arms with separately sculpted fingers, beautifully costumed in antique wool and brown velvet jacket dress, undergarments, velvet purse and bonnet, stockings, Bru leather shoes signed B (script in oval). Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (circle dot on back of head) 1/0 (left shoulder) Bte SGDG (forehead crown). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1880. Value Points: fine detail of sculpting, especially around the mouth, enhanced by choicest bisque and painting, original wig, sturdy body, perfect hands, couturier costume, signed Bru shoes.
