15" (38 cm.) All-wooden doll with one-piece head and torso, heart-shaped face on slender elongated throat, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted complexion, hair and facial features, black hair with stippled details of curls around the face, painted tiny grey outlined eyes with defined lashes, tiny closed mouth, blushed cheeks, pierced ears. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Grodnertal, circa 1830. Value Points: pristine preservation of the superb doll, including original costume comprising embroidered silk stockings, leather slippers with rose silk bows, embroidered gown with laced bodice, rose silk jacket, embroidered coin purse, earrings, and outstanding woven bonnet over hand-knit snood. The doll has blue ribbon award from 1999 UFDC exhibition and was featured in an article by Estelle Johnston in the summer 1991 Doll Reader.
