19" (48 cm.) Composition shoulder head of chubby-faced girl with sculpted black hair in short bob and bangs, painted facial features, dark brown outlined eyes, painted curly upper lashes and short feathered brows, closed mouth with smiling expression and painted teeth, muslin torso and upper limbs, composition lower limbs. Condition: generally excellent, original finish with some light flaking. Marks: Baby Peggy Diana S.C. 8/30/96 (ink lettered on doll by Diana Cary). Comments: Amberg, portrait doll of the early film child star Baby Peggy, circa 1928. Value Points: rare doll from the private collection of the Diana Serra Cary, known as "Baby Peggy"; the doll appeared in a celebrity early photo of Baby Peggy.
