18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial modeling and very full cheeks, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, mauve blushed eye shadow, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, separately modeled pierced ears, blonde lambswool wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, light scuffing on hands. Marks: 9 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, his uniquely sculpted portrait model known as "Bebe Triste" in reference to its wistful expression, circa 1884. Value Points: rarest small size of the sought-after model has beautiful eyes, original body and body finish, antique costume and bonnet.
