17" (43 cm.) Celluloid swivel head on celluloid shoulder plate, blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth with accent line between the smiling lips, unpierced ears, pale blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset jointing, antique blue woolen walking suit. Condition: generally excellent, body especially sturdy except some wear to hands. Comments: French, Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, his smiling poupee model was deposed in that year. Value Points: very rare variation of the model; the celluloid substance was considered a luxury material at that time, and very few examples of this model have been found today.
