10" (25 cm.) Carved wooden head with bald pate highlighted by circle of short painted hair at the crown, especially wide nose bridge and rounded nostrils, tiny carved inset eyes, closed mouth with gentle smile, firmly stuffed muslin body. Condition: generally excellent, some costume aging. Comments: Chinese wooden Door of Hope Mission, circa 1920. Value Points: most unusual and expressive facial features, rare hair painting, wearing original padded silk robe under red velvet tunic and with red silk short trousers and tiny slippers.
