17" (43 cm.) All-felt doll with egg-shaped head,center seam,stitched ears,black bead eyes,painted facial features,stitched on red cap,jointing at shoulders and hips,sewn on felt ragged costume in red and green felt,with black felt trousers having knee patches,brown leather shoes on over-sized feet. Condition: very good,left leather shoe top very worn. Marks: (original button in ear). Comments: Germany,Steiff,circa 1905,depicted is the character "Happy Hooligan" from comic strip of the same name. Value Points: rare early model with well-rendered characterization.
